Carsonified

We feel like there’s a real lack of good advice for web start-ups in the UK, so we’ve launched a 2-day workshop called Start-up Clinic. It’s Feb 15-16 at the new Carsonified office in beautiful Bath.

We’ll be covering: testing the viability of your idea, creating a kick-ass brand for your start-up, marketing on a shoestring, accounting basics and registering your company, creating your launch plan, getting a merchant account and taking payments online and much more. The teachers are Ryan Carson, Elliot Jay Stocks, Nick Callen (Carsonified Accountant) and Lisa Price (plus an appearance by a leading London Venture Capitalist).

It’s going to be very hands-on and there are only 12 10 seats left.

Gill and I were brainstorming the other day and we were trying to think of a fun surprise that we could give to the Team. Then the answer just jumped up and smacked us in the jaw … iPhones (bam!)

So from now on, it’s standard procedure for every new Carsonite to get a brand spanking new iPhone (to go with their MacBook and 23″ Display). We also pay the basic tariff so the phone doesn’t cost them a dime (if they want more minutes, they can just pay the difference). I love the smile that comes over people’s faces when we hand them their new little technology gem.

We’re big on making work and life fun and hopefully this is a little step in that direction.

On a side note, we’ve been really enjoying Remember The Milk’s iPhone edition (Mel discovered RTM - good job Melski!). We use to to exchange to-dos at the office and it’s working brilliantly.
